HIstory

     Batangas State University started as a manual training school in 1903 under the supervision of an American principal, Mr. Scheer. The school was renamed Batangas Trade School in 1905 and through Republic Act 746 its name was changed to Pablo Borbon Memorial Trade School in 1953. The school became the Pablo Borbon Regional School of Arts and Trade and started offering technical courses in 1957. The regional school was converted into a state college by virtue of ra 5270 known as Pablo Borbon Memorial Institute of Technology in 1968. It was the 23rd state college of the country at the time of conversion. In 1971, the college first offered engineering courses with specialization in mechanical and electrical engineering. And finally, by the virtue of RA 9045, Pablo Borbon Memorial Institute of Technology was elevated into Batangas State University. The Mechanical Engineering program was the first engineering program offered in the university in AY 1971-1972 as stipulated in Board Res. No.109, S.2008, D1, along with BS Electrical Engineering. The BSME program obtained level iv phase 2 re-accredited status given by the Accrediting Agencies of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

       The Mechanical Engineering program was the first engineering program offered in the university in AY 1971-1972 as stipulated in Board Res. No.109, S.2008, D1, along with BS Electrical Engineering. The BSME program obtained level iv phase 2 re-accredited status given by the Accrediting Agencies of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

      The Mechanical Engineering program at BatStateU has received ABET accreditation, a significant achievement that highlights the program's commitment to maintaining high academic standards. ABET, or the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, is a globally recognized body that evaluates the quality and rigor of engineering, technology, and applied science programs.

     With this accreditation, the Mechanical Engineering program at BatStateU meets essential quality benchmarks in areas such as curriculum, faculty expertise, and student outcomes. Top Three Performing School ME Licensure Examination (August 2023). Top Three Performing School ME Licensure Examination (August 2023) have achieved the highest mark of re-accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). His prestigious accreditation was officially posted on the ABET website on October 1, 2023.

2016

The Mechanical Engineering Program was the first engineering program offered in the university in AY 1971-1972 as stipulated in Board Res No. 109 S.2008 D1 along with BS Electrical Engineering. The BSME program obtained level 2 re-accredited status given by the Accrediting Agencies of Charted Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

1972

The college first offered engineering courses with a specialization in mechanical and electrical engineering and finally, by the virtue of RA 9045, Pablo Borbon Memorial Institute of Technology was elevated to Batangas State University.
