theses

Brilliant minds produce brilliant ideas, which are then implemented! The masters of Batangas State University's National Engineering University Alangilan Chapter's Mechanical Engineering program have significantly advanced expertise. Through their theses, students propose an increasing number of fascinating and cutting-edge ideas throughout time. These publications are intended to assist people in a variety of contexts and domains. The following noteworthy theses illustrate these contributions to society

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF SARDINELLATAWILIS CRACKER MAKING MACHINE

Authors: Espiritu, Kent Jazreel L., Mendoza, Joseph S., Visperas, Mark Francis A.

Year: 2020

Community help: Subic Ibaba Samahan ng mga Mangingisda Cooperative (SISMCO) located at Subic Ibaba, Agoncillo Batangas have an oversupply of sardinella tawilis in their community. The problem arises when the excess sardinella tawilis that the cooperative used to earn a living spoils in a span of 1 month. The researchers have found a solution for this dilemma by introducing a new product, only on other form which on this study is fish cracker. The development of sardinella tawilis making machine will help them reduce the loss and to maximize the uses, thus extending the life of sardinella tawilis... The fish crackers produced by the machine were negative to salmonella. SPP using the conventional method and E.coli contamination based on the laboratory results conducted by Lipa quality control center. Thus, the fish crackers produced by the machine were safe for human consumption. All these results were gathered through the conducted tests. (Espiritu, et. Al 2020)

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF SEWAGE SLUDGE PYROLYSIS MACHINE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF BIOCHAR AS COMPOST ADDITIVE

THESIS 2.png

Authors: Atajar, Allan Jay L., Castillo, Shayne Roselle C., Mendoza, Charlie B.

Year: 2020

Community help: The sewage sludge pyrolysis machine for the production of biochar as compost additive was designed and developed to help solve the problem of disposing of sewage sludge in large volumes. The process used in this study was slow pyrolysis which is a thermal heating and decomposition in the absence of oxygen... The development of this sewage sludge pyrolysis machine that is produced to be used as compost additive was very instrumental and beneficial not only to the environment but also to companies that produce large volumes of such waste as they can utilize it instead of disposing at landfills. Also, this can also help in the advancement of research for waste utilization. (Atajar, et. Al 2020)

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL ALTERNATIVE POWER GENERATION SYSTEM USING VERTICAL AXIS WIND TURBINE

Authors: Bisco, Jarice Ann K., Dimacuha, Julius Pepito A., Perez, Mary Grace G.

Year: 2020

Community help: Environmental and economic aspects are important considerations in the production of energy. Through time, different sources of electricity were discovered. Among these discoveries was the electrical power generated from the movement of the wind. The Philippines has great potential in generating electricity from wind so different ways were discovered in order to transmit wind power to electricity. The main objective of the study was to design and develop a small-scale power generation system using a vertical-axis wind turbine and conduct preliminary and final performance testing to determine the operating parameters and the overall performance of the prototype respectively... The overall efficiency of the vertical axis wind turbine was low but it was considered as an improvement for a renewable energy source. (Bisco, et.al 2020)

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF SWINE FARM WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM USING WOOD CHIPS AS PRIMARY FILTER MEDIA AND DOUBLE COCONUT SHELL ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER AS SECONDARY FILTER

THESIS 4.png

Authors: Bacay, Hanna Dorothy F., Briones, Kim O., Macaraig, Diane Mae Q.

Year: 2019

Community help: The main purpose of the study was to design and develop a swine farm wastewater treatment system using wood chips as primary filter media and double coconut shell activated carbon filter as secondary filters. The mahogany woodchips were utilized in the study considering its desirable media properties such as high moisture, holding capacity, high pore space which results to minimal pressure drop and stable compaction properties. Moreover, coconut shell activated carbon was used in the study because of its unique distribution of pore diameter and its ability to absorb color and aroma.
